SMIC selects DCG nProber nanoprobing system to accelerate advanced technology development

SMIC selects nProberTM nanoprobing system to accelerate advanced technology development

FREMONT, CA | May 13, 2014

Today DCG Systems, Inc., the leading provider of electrical characterization and fault localization solutions for the semiconductor and electronics industries, and Spirox Corporation, its exclusive sales channel in China, announced that SMIC, China’s largest and most advanced foundry, has adopted the nProber™ system for comprehensive characterization of individual transistors and bit cells at the 28nm device node and beyond.

“After a thorough technical evaluation, we have determined the nProber is the right nanoprobing system to help accelerate development of our advanced technologies,” stated LiLung Lai, Member of Technical Staff of SMIC Shanghai.

“We are delighted to provide China’s leading foundry with a nanoprobing solution that supports their mission to strengthen their global competitiveness,” said Israel Niv, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of DCG Systems. “We believe the nProber will supply the characterization data that SMIC engineers need, to locate and resolve new process issues quickly.”

The nProber nanoprobing system employs a high resolution electron-beam imaging platform and eight independently positioned probes to enable a wide variety of electrical characterization techniques. The real time imaging provided by the e-beam platform allows a live view of the probes as they land, ensuring the intended area is being measured.

By purchasing the first nProber in China, SMIC joins the world’s leading foundries, all of whom use nanoprobing solutions from DCG Systems.
